# Fieldwork progress

> Steer data collection in real time: indicators, quota progress and the answer flow.

Fieldwork progress is the real-time dashboard of data collection. At any moment, it shows how many interviews have been collected, their status and quota progress. It can be shared by link.

## The fieldwork indicators

Fieldwork progress displays the key figures of data collection.

| Indicator | What it measures |
| - | - |
| **Interviews by status** | The number of completes, screen outs, quality, and so on. |
| **Questionnaire incidence rate** | Completes ÷ total number of people who entered the survey. |
| **Target incidence rate** | Completes vs screen outs: the real incidence within the target. |
| **Drop-out rate** | The share of respondents who leave part-way through. |
| **Interview length** | The median length of complete interviews. |

<Note>
  The **Questionnaire incidence rate** relates completes to *everyone* who entered. The **Target incidence rate** only compares with screen outs: that is the real incidence within your target.
</Note>

## Follow quota progress

Fieldwork progress displays the progress of each quota, crossed quota, target quota and follow up. You also see the breakdown **per sample source**.

The **leeway** of each quota is visible here. By default it is 5%. You can adjust it, globally or quota by quota — for example widening the urban area to 15% at the end of fieldwork to close out collection.

<Note>
  Leeway is set in the [quotas](/en/collecte/quotas). Fieldwork progress shows it to you in real time.
</Note>

**Follow up** lets you track key variables during fieldwork without setting a quota objective for them. Unlike quotas, it accepts multiple choice variables (awareness, purchase, and so on).

### Filter by sample source and date

Fieldwork progress has two tabs: **Key performance indicators** and **Quotas**. At the top of each, two filters narrow down the interviews taken into account:

* the **sample source** — by default, **All sample sources**;
* the period, in the **Interviews started between** field: a single day or a date range.

The filters are kept when you switch from one tab to the other. This lets you follow how each quota fills over time — for example to measure the effect of a change of collection strategy, without exporting the individual data.

<Note>
  In the quota tables, only **Completes** follows the filter. **Objectives** and **Remaining** always cover the whole fieldwork: what remains to collect does not change when you filter on a single day. When a filter is active, the three columns therefore no longer add up.
</Note>

**Objectives** and **Completes** percentages are based on the sample size, **Remaining** percentages on the objectives. Follow up tables base their percentages on the count of respondents matching the filter.

## The answer flow

The answer flow follows the same logic, but **broken down by question**. It gives the number of interviews per day, per status and per question. You can view it and export it.

<Tip>
  A question with fewer completes than the previous ones points to an active filter: that is where fieldwork "filters". The answer flow is there to spot those points.
</Tip>

## Share the progress

You can share fieldwork progress without giving access to the platform.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Generate a link">
    From fieldwork progress, create a share link.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send the link">
    Pass it on to the person concerned (client, internal team).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Viewing">
    They see the indicators and quota progress, without a poll\&roll account.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Results can be consulted **at any time** during fieldwork, not only at closing. Results are covered in detail in the [Analysis](/en/analyse-des-resultats/introduction) stage.
