# Getting started with the report

> Format and distribute your results: reports, dashboards, exports and sharing.

The analysis is done: time to format and distribute. This is the last of the five steps in the journey: **Getting started → Questionnaire → Data collection → Results → Report**.

This step brings together everything used to **pass on your results**: a PowerPoint report built slide by slide, a dashboard you can share by link, data exports, and the sharing of the survey itself.

This page sets out the landmarks. Each deliverable then has its own page.

## Which deliverable for which need

Four ways to deliver your results, depending on what you are trying to do.

| Your need | The deliverable | The page |
| - | - | - |
| A polished presentation, slide by slide | a PowerPoint **report** | [Building a report](/en/rapport/rapports) |
| Live tracking, across several surveys or waves, distributed by link | a **dashboard** | [Building a dashboard](/en/rapport/tableau-de-bord) |
| Data or tables to rework elsewhere | an **export** (Excel, CSV, Triple S, PowerPoint) | [Exporting your deliverables](/en/rapport/exports) |
| Giving a client or a colleague access to the whole survey | **sharing** the survey | [Sharing and granting access](/en/rapport/partage) |

<Tip>
  Reports and dashboards are not mutually exclusive: a report aims at a fixed, polished presentation; a dashboard, at live tracking distributed by a simple link.

  You can read these pages in order. In practice, you first build the report or the dashboard, then export or share it.

## The landmarks of the report

A few terms come up throughout this step.

| Term | What it is |
| - | - |
| **Report** | The PowerPoint deliverable, built slide by slide from the results. |
| **Slide** | A slide in a report. |
| **Report builder** | The module in the **Reports** tab where the report is built, slide by slide. |
| **Top Line** | The quick one-click report: one slide per question, flat. |
| **Summary** | An analysis comment generated by AI, per slide or for the whole report. |
| **Layout** | The arrangement of the charts on a slide (free-form slide, two side by side, and so on). |
| **Dashboard** | A space that brings together charts from several surveys or waves, shareable by link. |
| **Export tracking** | The space that lists the status of your exports and duplications (label: **Export progress**). |

<Note>
  The **analysis** (**Results** tab) is for exploring and preparing the data; the **report** (**Reports** tab) is for formatting and distributing it. You can also export a single question straight from the analysis, without going through a report.
