A filter restricts the results to a subtarget: a part of the sample, defined by one or several answers. For example: displaying only the women, or the under-35s. The base is recalculated on this subtarget.

Applying a filter

The filters already available are displayed directly on your results (e.g. men / women).
1

Choose a filter

Click the filter you want among those offered.
2

Read the subtarget

The base updates: the number of individuals displayed drops to the size of the subtarget. You now read the number of individuals in this subpopulation, and no longer all the respondents.
3

Go back to Overall

Click Overall to get the full base back.
You can combine several filters to narrow the subtarget: by adding a second criterion to a filter already applied (for example the men, then the Paris region), the base narrows further. Each added filter refines the subpopulation.
The filtered subtarget is kept in the export: a flat table exported to Excel keeps the active filter. See the Exporting your deliverables page.

Choosing the available filters

You decide which questions serve as filters. Any question of the questionnaire can be added.
1

Open the filter management

Via the pencil icon, click Manage filters. You land in the results preferences.
2

Select the questions

Check the questions to offer as filters; uncheck the ones to remove.
3

Confirm

The filters you choose become available on all the results.
A filter can be based on a question of the questionnaire or on a variable you created (a recode, for example “familiar / not familiar”).

Filtering a wave comparison

For a filter to work in a comparison of several waves, it must exist on each wave and carry the same variable name. See the Comparing surveys or questions page.
